Welcome

Welcome to iiNet's August Newsletter. This month our corporate services and management teams will be moving out to our newly refurbished offices in Innaloo. Towards the end of August work will commence on our call centre in the QV1 building, giving the office a much needed revamp. We will still be operating our support service 24 hours per day, seven days a week during the renovations.

New Staff

iiNet has recently assembled a team of senior management professionals to lead the company as it continues to experience rapid growth and expansion.

Internal restructures have resulted in Clayton Hollingsworth, iiNet's Chief Financial Officer, broadening his responsibilities to encompass business development and customer services. His title has been changed to Chief Operating Officer. Glen Lewis formerly Customer Service Manager has now assumed the role of General Manager of Network Operations responsible for iiNet's network infrastructure. Rebecca Spyker-Dicken has also accepted an internal promotion to manage iiNet's newly formed Customer Service Proactive Group.

External appointments in recent weeks have resulted in Rolf Goff, formerly from Telstra, and Sue Brodie from the TAB, becoming Customer Service Managers. Earlier this year iiNet appointed James Hill, formerly from the City of Nedlands, and David Phillips from West Australian Newspapers as HR Manager and Training Manager respectively.

Welcome aboard all!

New Lines

We are proud to announce that iiNet has just opened a new local service in Broome! This point of presence (POP) services the Broome township and surrounding areas with 60 lines and a 256kbps link back to Perth.

Gingin has just received an upgrade of 60 new lines, taking the number of dial in lines at that point of presence to 150. Gingin's capacity has also been upgraded for higher bandwidth and faster data transfer.

We have also added 60 more lines to Albany, taking the number of dial in lines at that point of presence to 240. We have again upgraded our Albany POP for higher bandwidth and faster data transfer taking it to 1.5Mbit DDS.

Our Toodyay point of presence is next in line for upgrading, details in next month's newsletter.

Connection Issue Update

We have received a number of calls from customers who have been receiving busy signals when they attempt to dial in. Realizing how frustrating this can be, we thought it worthwhile supplying you with a solution just in case you are experiencing the same problem.

This problem may arise only if you have the misfortune of your call to iiNet going through an older telephone exchange. Some of these older exchanges are having trouble redirecting the volume of iiNet calls to a single number in the city.

If you happen to experience a busy tone when dialing your normal iiNet number, you may wish to try changing your connection to dial one of these supplied below.

Please remember to check with Telstra that it will be a local call for you before changing your connection number. This Telstra service is available to you on 12552.

North of river - 9203-0900 eg.Karrinyup, Hamersley
South of river - 9258-0900 eg. Cannington, Armadale
Western Suburbs - 9225-9900 eg Claremont, Fremantle
Eastern Suburbs - 9374-6900 eg Midland, Guildford

These are for Perth customers only. Country customers should continue using their local iiNet number.

Information on how to change the number your computer is dialing can be found here:

http://www.iinet.net.au/help/

Then simply select your Operating System Type and follow the instructions for changing the dial up phone number.

If you continue to experience problems after trying the alternate numbers please visit the following WebPage address to submit your username and the phone number you are dialing from.

We will contact you as soon as we can to resolve the problem.
