iiNet Introduces bliink SOHO

iiNet Limited announced this week its new suite of flat rate bliink SOHO broadband products.

Starting at $99.95 per month, the "bliink SOHO" range of products offers flat rate broadband access at speeds from 256k to 1.5MB with download quotas starting from 10 GB.

These accounts have been introduced to suit the small to medium business client or those home users looking for a greater download limit. These accounts also include a static IP address.

bliink SOHO will be very comforting for small to medium businesses, educational institutions and government organisations operating within tight budgets.

bliink BIZ+ customers have also benefited from the introduction of the new range with significant price reductions and increased download limits to these accounts.

iiNet is expecting very strong demand for its new bliink SOHO broadband products due to the new lower monthly fees, generous download limits and the certainty of flat rates.

For more information regarding these accounts, please visit the product section of our website at http://www.iinet.net.au/products/index.html

Webimpact Change of Management!

The "webimpact" product is a specialist web hosting service on a Windows environment. iiNet has sold a small number of these over the past year, but Windows web hosting is not our forte and some clients have experienced difficulties with this product.

iiNet has now entered into an arrangement with Perthweb, a Perth based hosting and web design company, to hand over management of the webimpact products. This is Perthweb's area of expertise and they'll be able to provide a more reliable and specialist service.

Over the next two weeks, Perthweb will send webimpact customers an introductory letter with more information.

Until then, it will be business as usual!

New Webmail System

iiNet was very excited to release its new Webmail system this month. The new Webmail system has been our most successful Webmail yet.

The new Webmail made a step away from internal development and support and embraces open source development under a GPL license. This means that the system is under constant development by programmers around the world (some of them iiNet staff). As such bugs will be actively resolved and features constantly added to the system.

The new Webmail incorporates a number of features which clients had requested and resolves a number of bugs which existed under the old versions of Webmail. The new Webmail provides a significant performance increase over previous versions, attachments work correctly, sent items folder works correctly, multi-lingual support (currently under expansion).

From a technical perspective the system is now fully redundant and scalable. Problems with one machine will not result in a failure of the Webmail system. As iiNet's client base expands the system can have additional machines added to handle the extra load.

The developers are currently considering a number of features, including:

  • Email Filtering
  • Spell Checking
  • Expanded Language Support
  • Search-able Folders
  • Folder Sorting

We would like to take this opportunity to thank our Beta testers (iinet.general), users which have identified bugs during the deployment, and Martin G., the head developer for the project.

Nationally Accredited Course for Customer Service Staff

iiNet has recently adopted a competency based training and assessment system, incorporating nationally recognised Call Centre qualifications into the development programme.

Employees are now being enrolled into Certificate III in Telecommunication (Call Centre). Good Luck to those who have commenced the studies already!

So what does this mean to you? It means every time you call iiNet Customer Support you will be speaking to a highly qualified consultant specifically trained in assisting your needs.
