Windows XP PPPoE Client

  1. This software is recommended for those users with an Ethernet type ADSL modem (eg. D-Link DSL-300, Alcatel Speed Touch Home). Please note that this software is not supported by iiNet's call centre.

  2. We strongly suggest you download a PDF copy of this webpage to your desktop, you can do so here.

  3. Right mouse button click the My Network Places icon on your desktop and select Properties to bring up the Network and Dial-up Connections window.



  4. You will need to Create a New Connection so click on the link to do so on the left of the window:



  5. The New Connection Wizard will start. Click Next to continue:



  6. In the Network Connection Type window, select Connect to the Internet and then click Next to continue.



  7. In the Getting Ready window, choose to Set up my connection manually and then click Next to continue.



  8. In the Internet Connection window, choose Connect using a broadband connection that requires a user name and password, the click Next to continue.



  9. In the Connection Name window, name the connection iiNet ADSL Connection, then click Next to continue.



  10. In the Internet Account Information page you will need to enter in the following information:
    Username: Enter your iiNet username followed by "@iinet.net.au" (i.e. username@iinet.net.au)
    Password: Enter your password as supplied by iiNet


    It is recommended that you do not activate the Internet Connection Firewall unless you know how to configure it. Click Next to continue.

  11. To complete the New Connection Wizard, you can choose to Add a shortcut to my desktop or just click Finish to complete the process.



  12. Once the New Connection Wizard is complete, the Connect iiNet ADSL Connection window will open. Click on Properties and then the Security tab.




  13. Under the Security tab, select Advanced then click on the Settings button.



  14. Under the Advance Security Settings, choose Allow these protocols and makes sure only Unencrypted password (PAP) is ticked. Press OK to continue.



  15. You will be asked to confirm the settings. Click Yes to continue and OK until you return back to the Connect iiNet ADSL Connection screen. Click on Connect to connect to the Internet.
