ADSL Troubleshooting Guide - Authentication Issues & Modem Configuration

This can occur when you have ADSL sync but do not have Internet connectivity or you are unable to connect to the modem to configure it.

To ensure that you can Authenticate, please make sure that your iiNet username is entered correctly (usually in the form username@iinet.net.au and that you are using the password that has been assigned to you.

Alcatel SpeedTouch USB & D-Link DSL-200

If you have a D-Link DSL-200 or the Alcatel SpeedTouch USB, re-enter your username and password after double-clicking the iiNet ADSL Connection icon.

D-Link DSL-300 C3

If you made an error in entering the username and password for the DSL-300 modem or are moving the DSL-300 modem to another PC, go to http://192.168.0.1/ and click on the Accounts Management link. If there is already an index entry for your username, tick the box next to the index number, then click delete.

Once the account is deleted, click on the Account Configuration link and re-enter your username and password details as described in the Modem Configuration Guide and save it again.

If your username and password has been entered correctly as described in the Modem Configuration Guide and you are still unable to connect to the Internet or get Internet traffic, please contact iiNet Support and report the fault.

If you are unable to reach the modem to configure it, please ensure that your PC and the Ethernet modem are in the following state:

  • Your PC turned ON
  • Your web browser has no Proxy Server Settings (as per Pre-existing Connection Issues)
  • Solid Green Power Light (Power) on the front of the ADSL Modem
  • Blinking Green Status Light on the front of the ADSL Modem
  • Green light on the Ethernet Link on the front of the ADSL Modem
  • Green light on the NIC at the rear of your PC

If you cannot setup the PC and modem as described above, unplug all connections, reboot your PC and modem and start again. If this still does not fix the problem, please contact iiNet Support and report the fault.
