FrontPage Help
What is FrontPage?
FrontPage is a dynamic HTML editor that allows you to create and publish documents right to your
web site without having to know any HTML and without needing to use an FTP program.
FrontPage is a Microsoft product that also helps you to maintain your web site. It allows you to design and
create your web site on your local computer and then publish the entire site to your iiNet web space
in an easy way. FrontPage components allow you to add text searches, personal conferences, and much
more.
What are FrontPage Extensions?
Frontpage Extensions are CGI programs which provide server-side applications called WebBots. Some
examples of these bots are:
- Search engines
- Table of Contents
- Timestamps
- Scheduled Include
FrontPage at iiNet
Please note that the iiNet servers do not support Frontpage Extensions.
And if I do not use FrontPage Server Extensions?
Even if you do not enable the FrontPage Server Extensions, you can still use FrontPage to
develop your web pages. For example, you can develop the web site by using the Microsoft Personal Web
Server on your computer, and then transfer your web content to your web space on iiNet's members
server. Keep in mind that when you do this, you may lose some features or experience some incompatibilities
between your working server and the target server.
