mIRC is an Internet Relay Chat (IRC) client. It is one of the better and more popular IRC programs
for Windows. It is easy to use with a great online support.
What is IRC? (Internet Relay Chat)
IRC is a multi-user, multi-channel, real time chat system, which is one of the
most popular and interactive parts of the Internet.
IRC allows people to communicate and engage in interactive discussions (via your keyboard) with
each other from any place in the world at the same time. IRC is where the Internet
comes alive.
Discussions are organised into channels, in that if you join a 'channel', then everyone on that channel can read what you are typing. Users can join or leave these discussion channels
or create new ones. Channel participants contribute to the ongoing discussion
by typing text by a line or two at a time. Users can also send private messages
to a particular person, and most software allows users to exchange data or files
with other IRC participants.
IRC is constantly evolving, so the way things work one week may not be the
way they work the next. Read the MOTD (message of the day) every time you use
IRC to keep up on any new happenings or server updates.
